Despite regularly bring outside St Hilda's church, I've never actually been inside until today. There was a ham radio event going on inside, with a special callsign (GB5SH), which runs (I believe) twice yearly. Unfortunately, I have no particular interest in ham radio myself (I'm not the most talkative person on the planet at the best of times), so I went along basically to have a look around.

In 2000, Time Team visited Hartlepool, and amongst the finds were those of a nun who lived in the 7th century. "Beneat this stone are the remains of a Nun of the 7th century Monastery of which St Hilda was Abbess. The Feat of St Hilda 2000
