The ferry wasn't on, for some unknown reason. Maybe because it was a Sunday, or maybe because the holiday season hasn't started? Either way, if you wanted to get to one side of the lake to the other, you'll need to go the long way round, and on foot.

2nd walk of 2012, and the first part of walking the entire distance around the Kielder Reservoir, from Tower Knowle, to Leaplish.

A 10-mile journey there and back, in some of the worst weather our lovely, sunny British May has to offer. Almost the entire journey back, we had to endure wind, hail and rain. Not exactly ideal. It's the first of these walks that the weather actually turned against us.
