Walk #9 - a return trip to Thorpe thewles - A689
The first trip was on March 21st, and it's amazing the difference a month makes. Last time we were here, the trees were bare, with only a few daring to show their leaves. Daffodils were in abundance, and the sun, although bright, didn't provide a great deal of heat.
Fast-forward 5 weeks, everything is a bright green, insects are everywhere, and the 7-mile walk was barely noticeable. On the previous walk, we got a little bit lost when taking a shortcut through the forest. This time, we took the correct route from the A689, through the forest, to Pickard's meadow.
I arrived back to Mercuryvapour Towers, covered in caterpillars.
There was a quick stop off at the "County Durham Gateway Bridge", which takes the footpath over the A689.
